BKS INDO-BAHRAIN DANCE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL

Segayya, Bahrain – May 3

The stage is set for a mesmerising start of the highly anticipated BKS Indo Bahrain Dance and Music Festival.
The third edition which is poised to open its curtains tonight, will feature Sakhi, a semi classical fusion by the first all-women classical band in India, led by the talented vocalist Kaushiki Chakrabarty.

The festival will be officially opened by Indian Ambassador Vinod K Jacob, alongside Guests of Honour, Government Hospitals chief executive Dr Maryam Al Jalahma, Social Development Ministry Under-Secretary Sahar Al Mannai, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities Communications and Promotions director Huda Abdulgaffar Alawi and Uneeco Group chief executive Jayashankar Viswanathan.

This will mark the start of a week-long odyssey through the captivating rhythms and melodies of diverse traditions.

The festival until May 10 at the BKS premises in Segayya will feature top-class artists from India and Bahrain.

With the gracious support of the Indian Embassy and the Bahrain Authority of Culture and Antiquities, the festival is curated by the esteemed founder of Soorya, the illustrious stagecraft maestro and director, Soorya Krishnamoorthy.

Attendees are promised an unparalleled experience of cultural magnificence.

Other featured performances scheduled are:

May 4: Carnatic percussion & Bharathanatyam Ensemble by the distinguished Umayalpuram Kasiviswanatha Sivaraman, a revered mridangam virtuoso and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, alongside the acclaimed Bharatanatyam artist Parshwanath Upadhye.

May 5: The musical stage show “Agni 3” directed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy.

May 6: An Arabic instrumental and vocal performance by the talented Bahraini artist Faisal Al Kooheji.

May 7: A Carnatic classical and semi-classical vocal recital by the father-daughter duo, P Unnikrishnan and Uthara Unnikrishnan.

May 8: A Semi-Classical/Carnatic Concert by the renowned Vijay Yesudas.

May 9: An exquisite dance combination featuring Vidya Pradeep and Anitha on Mohiniyattam, Priyadarshini Govind and Vidhya Subramanian on Bharathanatyam.

May 10: A Carnatic classical Violin recital by the virtuoso Dr. L Subrahmaniam.

The BKS extends a warm invitation to all music and dance aficionados to partake in this celebration of the arts.
